Wings needed Wide these days ?

Sorry I meant about two IWM 80 delta calls (about 16 positive RUT delta), to offset the BF's -14 delta. Another criteria sometimes used for the long call is, buy no more than $1.00 extrinsic value since that is what wastes away to zero by expiration. And sometimes we would buy less DTE long...

Wings needed Wide these days ?

I agree with Status1 reply. You have much too much positive delta (+66). The graph should not be tilted like it is. You have to adjust the lot size, wing width or both but in a traditional M3 the position delta on open is pretty close to zero. In a high volatility environment this will happen...

    Tail Hedging in 2020

Hi Brad! Great question, although I can only make a general observation without specifics. The shorter the timeframe to expiration, the less effective a teeny will be or to say another way, the larger the point drop will have to be for it to pay off. And, a teeny will only give you some...

Rough cut of TOS SCAN sorted by Extrinsic % of underlying

This is the most current code. Easy to modify the last line of the last one, that allows us to sort/qualify above to do weighting, like this: plot Metric=if Pass then ExtPercent * .7 + ITMPercent * .3 else -1; But, in my testing, it doesnt make a material difference and I think both are...

VERY Important Video to Watch For Options Traders!

Wow. It is my understanding also that ITM options are automatically exercised when they expire. But I guess, when exactly is that and what does the stock do by that time in after hours trading. It sounds like the OCC's decision whether to automatically exercise (the long 409 puts) is made maybe...

    Schwab option trading capability?

Heres a couple screenshots from Schwab SSE. These are from the "All in One" trade tool which you launch first. The tabs circled in red are pre-defined types of orders that when selected bring up the appropriate single or multi-leg orders. then you can select the options and strikes for the legs...

    Schwab option trading capability?

I have traded options with Schwab for more than 10 years. I use streetsmart it is adequate but not as good as TOS. They do take multi leg orders of all kinds easily. Schwab has demonstrated that thney often have better execution than TOS - I have had orders in on both and schwab will fill when...

    Road Trip Entry

Using fixed points was one way some traded RT. I didn't, instead use more statistical points like SD. No it doesn't explain the results any more, because primarily RT is a negative vega trade, and it's p/l is hurt when volatility (aka VIX) goes up.

    Road Trip Entry

I did a study of VIX vs RT profitability across all my trades. It showed two things: When VIX was above 25 very few RT were profitable, and if VIX rose more than 5 points during the trade they were also not profitable. Its the large price swings (up or down) that happen with VIX above 20 or 25...

    New forum for aviation

Checked out in the 182 yesterday. In some respects I find it easier to fly than the 172. Its been 19 years since I flew a 182, used to tow gliders with one. One thing the CFI did was pretend we were doing a "4H" takeoff - high, hot, humid and heavy - we added less than half power and he wanted...

    New forum for aviation

Went flying today from Paine field in Everett - flying from the right seat. I wanted to get a little experience from the right side. I did have a safety pilot with me just in case... it felt a bit strange but by the second and third landing it seemed just like normal. Also asked Tower to give...
