I am sharing some new FREE content called the "Compare and Contrast" series, so check it out

Years ago - while I was trying to study and learn the skill of trading options for income, many gracious people shared GREAT content that helped me on my journey - and now that I trade full time and have become consistently profitable, I have created some FREE content that I hope might be of...

I am Launching a new FREE "Compare and Contrast" series that may be of interest to newer options traders

Years ago - while I was trying to study and learn the skill of trading options for income, many gracious people shared GREAT content that helped me on my journey - and now that I trade full time and have become consistently profitable, I have created some FREE content that I hope might be of...

    OptionVue vs OptionNet Explorer

Depending your specific needs, I would be sure to at least give OptionTradersAssitant.com a try. I have used it for 6 months now and it has worked GREAT, but you need to be with one of their connected brokers TDA, Tradier, E-trade (not sure what others) and it does not have a backtesting data...

    NDX

Great observation on the >01 increments in RUT.

    M3 - The best strategy?

Status - I understand what you are saying - but campaign style trading will require adjustments in many cases - so I would suggest you find a way to build that comfort as much as possible. I am not saying I have the answer, but in my trade group, we analyzed and adjusted a trade this AM that we...

    NDX

Great question and I should have clarified that as it is out of context if you were not in the class. In my case I was comparing 45 day out 60/50 BWB's. in SPX to 125/100 BWB's in NDX (Which I know is not a direct correlation but to check Bid/Ask spreads it was fine), but the Bid Asks scared...

    Trading Calendars

M12 - I am working on a Deep Dive Calendar/Diagonal Course to accompany my Deep Dive Butterfly course, but it won't be ready for a couple of months yet. Calendars are very unusual in the way the trade and the fact that the "TENT" is not fixed and stable in the P&L diagram and it is CRITICAL...

What do you think about Optionstrat as alternative to ONE?

Hello All - I am a contributing trader/educator for Optionstrat at Optionstrat.com and they have a great product. Easy to use, great interface and great learning tool - however, it is not the same type of product that ONE, OptionTradersAssistant or Optionvue are as you really can not easily...

    M3 - The best strategy?

I think you are thinking of Morris Puma of SJOptions. I had dinner with him in SF a few months back, a nice enough guy, but certainly a different sort of character. I tried to get a better sense of what he was doing and how he was doing it (in other words - what was his secret sauce that he...

    M3 - The best strategy?

John used to be a Prop trader for SMB years ago and has since gone out on his own. I have traded many of Johns trades over the years and have purchased many of his courses and had personal coaching from him. He is a great guy and he will be the FIRST person to tell you that NO single trade is...

    NDX

As part of my Deep Dive Butterfly class - we dug into the various underlyings that a person could consider trading and in my research i found the massively wide Bid/Ask spread in NDX to be essentially untradeable (see image below). Keep in mind that this does not mean that you might not get an...

My #1 question from traders - black swan hedging - here is how I deal with it

As an educator/instructor for options trading - I get the following question about black swan hedging all of the time and here is how I do it:

Closed out a NEW SPX Butterfly in 3 trading days for just under 20% return

Christopher - this is my personal opinion (and how I teach my students in our trading group at sjgtrades.com), a properly entered butterfly (which it sounds like you largely had - is VERY forgiving and should never have a STOP on it. Stops in farther out DTE SPX with their wide bid/ask spreads...

Closed out a NEW SPX Butterfly in 3 trading days for just under 20% return

Nice going on the patience! It looks like you got a pretty good entry because of your patience. I would not be too concerned about a break below 3995, and maybe just consider adjusting the position instead of taking it off. This should be easy to adjust given your great entry.

    SPX fly vs RUT fly

At the end of the day - I would think you need to evaluate each based off of an equal investment or risk amount. In other words, if you spent $5.00 on A and $5 on B - which one gives you the greatest Reward to Risk ratio or other metrics you may want to measure like POP, etc.

    SPX fly vs RUT fly

Status - while I can't speak specifically to the T0 line in Tom's program as I have not used it - a couple of things to possibly consider: 1) With RUT being roughly 1/2 the value of SPX I would think to compare spread to spread you would need to make the RUT trade spreads be 1/2 of the SPX leg...
