Why am I getting this risk graph ?

I don't expect that you will see much of anything from this trade, except to tie up some BP. The Premium in a futures contract over the spot price is primarily Cost of Carry. That is the amount to buy and hold the underlying basket of stocks, including Dividends less interest for the purchase...

    Calendar Modeling into Expiration

Thanks for sharing @jim leahy! There's a lot of information in your plots, and a lot of potential for visualization from different perspectives.

    Alternatives to ONE

@Steve G you nailed it with that one! Yes, it's housekeeping that I have to do in ONE after each trade and adjustment. It can get busy when I have a number of different trades on. Also, it can be a bit of math when my fill occurs in several pieces before it's finished. You make a great...

    Calendar Modeling into Expiration

Nice @jim leahy! I track something similar. It shows very nicely how IV lifted that whole curve over the day today. Even though we rallied up by 30 points in the latter half of the session, VIX didn't really drop off. This shows clearly in your curve movement. Nice graphic.

    Calendar Modeling into Expiration

I'm watching for that IV drop as well. Hopefully, some tomorrow with the CPI and more Wed with FOMC. I generally trade shorter time frames than DTE30. I've done an occasional DTE28, or 21, but mostly DTE14 and shorter.

Morgan Stanley confirms to acquire ETrade in $13 billion all-stock dea

Just a part, probably a group or back office function that they deemed redundant and without synergies to something JPM already has. Getting $55Mln helps with the costs and probably keeps some employees in a job.

Real-World Success Trading Options In The Long Run?

@GaryB , this is a tough one. Anyone who is selling something is highly regulated (whether they fully understand that or not) and is prohibited from posting their returns or performance except in very specific and controlled ways. Even so, anyone who has been around trading for, say two...

    TOS futures statement

Ugh, it sounds messy. I did a number of future trades through ToS before the SCHW acquisition, but none since. I generally do all of my Futs trading through IBKR or some Introducing Broker using software like Sierra Chart. Many firms will use a separate entity (e.g. Apex Futures at...

    Calendar Modeling into Expiration

@Ted C , another way to think of Calendars is around that spread between your front contract and back contract. A lot of how Calendars behave is determined by that amount of horizontal (across time or expirations instead of vertical, or strikes in the same expiration) span. Think about how...

    No SPX index fee

These are exactly the concerns that make me cautious about how ToS will be rolling into SCHW, as well as my different TDA accounts. IBKR. I trade actively in both ToS/TDA and IBKR. IBKR is built more for traders than investors, and you won't see some of these confounding rules. You also...

    No SPX index fee

I agree, anything can happen. But really, I don't see them supporting that with active traders. For SPX Options, the Exchange fee (0.45), SEC fee(0.04), ORF fee(0.04), and FINRA fee(0.02), works out to 55 cents to close, and a bit less to open. On a single butterly, 4 contracts, that's over...

    python gui programming

And to add, Sourceforge (https://sourceforge.net/) is a website where people share code snippets or full packages. Many of the web searches and articles that you'll read will point you to some user's folder, or the author's folder, on Sourceforge. You can cut/copy code or download packages...

    python gui programming

Both Marcas and Tb2018 offer some great advice. Python will be a rich and deep world, but very accessible. There is so much online, and for free, that you should be able to put pieces of code together quickly to accomplish what you are looking for. Or if you prefer, there are some...

    No SPX index fee

I'm not sure that I'll be trusting all those details just yet. I've received those same emails, but there are still many questions to be answered. I have accounts at both TDA and SCHW. While SCHW doesn't charge those pass throughs for SPX, I'm not sure that they won't change that. Also, note...

Why am I getting this risk graph ?

I'm not sure exactly your question, but I'm thinking that both the /MES (assuming the infinity symbol in ToS, or the "continuous" contract) and the front month - /MESZ22 - would and should have the same price. The way that I understand continuous contracts is that they are back-adjusted or...

IBKR Trade Grouping for Option Combo Adjustments

I'm wondering if anyone has thoughts on trading Options campaigns at Interactive Brokers. I've used their platform since late 1996, (yes, I had a four-digit customer account, just after they went retail) but have always tracked my option trades including adjustments outside of the trading...

Why am I getting this risk graph ?

I'm right there with you @status1. Just after SCHW bought TDA, I remember getting the "Don't worry...trust us" email from SCHW. It was something to the effect of taking the best parts of ToS and combining that with the Street Smart Edge (SSE) features, or something scary like that. I have...

    Alternatives to ONE

If you are looking at emulating a Windows machine, another thought might be to buy a small box like this for $223 (no affiliation or link credit, just a random pick on Amazon Black Friday sale items). It already includes Win11 Pro. It has 16GB of RAM and 500GB of solid-state hard drive. Plug it...

Why am I getting this risk graph ?

Ugh, I see what you are saying. My futures trades with ToS have always been scalps or multiple positions in the front month only. I don't imagine that TDA is focusing much on making enhancements or bug fixes on ToS at this point, more likely about finishing the integration into whatever will...
