ToS discount?

Hi all - new here, I read that there is a group rate for commissions for Think or Swim? How do I get this?

I am not aware. But if you give them a call, they pretty much give $0.5 (from $0.65) for option trade to everybody who would care to call them.

just call and ask for 5c off on the option trades? is there a more specific name for it?

I just called and got my fees brought down from .65 to .40
pending 2 day approval
will let you all know if it sticks!!

hope I understood correctly and it's 5c off .65 and not 0.5c total per options trade
 
my conversation was:
me: can I get lower commissions for options trades?
them: what would you like?
me: I want $0.35 per option trade
them: that's too much, I need manager approval, but I can give you $0.5 just right now
me: ok.
them: if my manager approve $0.35 I will let you know if a few days.

I did not get $0.35, but I've got $0.5
 
I noticed that TD lowered their regular commissions for SPX to 1.18 from 1.24 so now it matches the commission from Schwab which raised their commission to match TD I guess this was part of the merger agreement
 
I asked for a lower rate a few months ago and they set it at $0.50. I added up my thinkorswim commissions to $627.50 this month so far (this excludes other exchange, OPRA fees etc).

I chatted today with support and they submitted it to their back office for consideration. If it's approved, it will appear with Friday's trades he said. We'll see..
 
Good job on getting $0.50. They gave me $0.45 so I'm happy with that for now.
 
I don't think there are many brokerages left that don't pass through this Exchange plus other fees, e.g. ORF. Schwab was one but recently announced that they were aligning with TDA and starting to pass through the fees. Given that, I don't imagine anyone not getting those in a TD Ameritrade account. Among other things, I'm hopeful that our reduced rates persist once the SCHW/TDA integration is complete...
