OptionVue vs OptionNet Explorer

I have been using ONE for a year, and fairly happy with it. It does struggle with projecting the right theta decay values for calendar spreads, but that is a limitation of all softwares due to the difference in implied volatility between the long and short option. Otherwise I find it very useful.
I know there was a big exodus away from optionvue last year, after the software changed ownership and management. From what i am led to believe based on reports in other forums, there was difficulty in predicting behaviours of put butterflies, it may have been fixed now.
@tom : which of the options of optionvue do you recommend for retail investors since they have several choices ?

Thanks Steve for this. I signed up - but it does not work with IBKR. Incidentally your issues with ONE was a front runner...I was trying to renew it (my mistake), but my payment was rejected several times, so i wrote in : the next morning the renewal amount doubled going up to 1000 GBP with sales taxes of 20% on top - all on the grounds that I must be using it for commercial purposes! (I got an email to this end too.) Wont be going back there!

Guy - I am certainly sorry to hear of your experience with ONE as well and I certainly hope that I did not draw undue attention to this group. Like you, I only asked a basic question of their tech support back in Nov and the next thing I know I was being accused of all sorts of things. I offered to pay their "elevated fee" because I had made the mistake and used their product in a limited teaching capacity without knowing of their "Commercial fee", but they said they don't trust me at this point. Such a different way of doing business than what most Software as a Service people try to employ where they want as many people as possible using, showing and talking about their products - but I guess to each their own. We will see which model plays out best over time - but I suspect I know that answer!
I have found OTA (Options Traders Assistant) to be very good (and the developer to be very responsive), but they don't have the backtest functionality of ONE, but in exchange, they have some great tools they are building out for instructors to help students. While they don't connect to all brokers (like IBKR), you can manually enter trades - which is what I had to do with all of ONE orders previously - until OTA gets to where they can connect.

Thank you Steve! Unusual customer service to say the least. Glad to know in a way it was not just me. Particularly puzzling in your case as you have/had done nothing but promote them, in the nicest possible way !
Had another look at OTA but without an IBKR connection there are no live prices! So will have to shelve that one, at least for the time being.

Ah - did not think about the data feed being broker provided. As a possible thought, I know years ago you could set up an account for about $100 at TOS and then have all of the functionality and data that million-dollar accounts have - so while it may be more trouble than it is worth - it may also be a possibility IF you really need to do something.Thank you Steve! If only! Opening a TOS account for overseas folks is more complicated than getting a Green card!

Depending your specific needs, I would be sure to at least give OptionTradersAssitant.com a try. I have used it for 6 months now and it has worked GREAT, but you need to be with one of their connected brokers TDA, Tradier, E-trade (not sure what others) and it does not have a backtesting data base

Yes - I can see you point on that, but you can do backtesting on TOS On-demand, but it is a bit clunkier.
That said, I will say that having backtested thousands of trades, the backtesting certainly help me understand and learn how to deal with different market conditions - But not sure it helped me personally in developing a "system" - just my two cents.
