Schwab on TOS

I was stumbled on a setting where you can load Schwab onto the TOS platform I guess this was done after the completion of the merger
Before you log in if you use the small wheel at the bottom left you now have a dropdown from which you can select either TOS or Schwab than you can log in using the Schwab id and password
A word of caution The Schwab login screen is bigger than the TOS login so if you login with Schwab you may not be able to log back in with TOS because the setting button is off the screen That depends on the display setting I was at 109% so I had this problem but if yours is set to medium 125% you may not run into this problem
So I changed my display so I can see the setting button and switched back to TOS than restored the display

The logo is blue on Schwab compared to green for TOS
Otherwise it looks the same but I don't think it's read for trading as I just tried to place a simulated trade and it said something about this account cannot be traded on this platform Maybe they have to setup something on the Schwab end to be able to trade with TOS but the charts are working Also there is no account information even though I can see my account number

Maybe soon we will be able to start trading the Schwab account with the TOS platform
 
I asked them about this and they said "At this time we are still operating separately." also they gave a phone number to the transition specialist to fix the login screen Not sure if they will be as helpful as the TD support
So it will take a while before Schwab traders can use the TOS platform
 
From what I understand from other users who have been converted, you can look, but not trade. ToS for Schwab will display your positions and let you view charts, but the functionality is not fully implemented yet. Kind of a rock and hard place for someone who has already had their account converted. Web trading only for now.
 
Yes you are correct about the functionality The big surprise for me was the sign in screen where I could not switch back to TOS without adjusting the display so that would be the first ting that should be fixed
 
I received an email that supposedly you can officially trade on TOS but I just looked at it at it doesn't look like they changed anything the login screens is still messed up and it shows the account number but you cant select it so it's still useless at this point and supposedly they will phase out the Streetsmart platform which I never really used so I will stick with the web version until they fix the TOS platform
Futures will be available in 2024
 
I found out a little more about the access after I sent them an email
You have to go on the Schwab website to unable your account and than after 24 hours you should have access so I will try it tomorrow and see how it works
About the login they say I have to use the tab key to navigate on the screen I will check that tomorrow also
 
So my Schwab account is available on TOS and I can trade whenever I want
The login screen is still an issue I can't use the tab key because the gear for setting the account is off the screen so even if I tab to it I can't select it
I sent them another email to see if they are planing to do anything about it
 
I got a reply about the login screen and they said to change some compatibility setting on the TOS application but it's grayed out so I can't make any changes but they suggested to use the tab key 4 times and than the space bar and that worked so that brings up the menu where I can switch back to TOS
So I can go back and forth but it would be better without the extra steps but at least it's better than having to play with the display setting and having to log off and on to make the changes
 
I was on live support with TD but they were pretty much clueless about the login screen I guess no one else is using the display setting at other than 100% and try to tell me to change my setting so I can use the Schwab login screen

The 2 logins screens are different not only in size but also in functionality On TOS after entering the user id you can click or tab (twice) to the password box but on Schwab you have to click on continue to bring up the password box

Maybe some day someone will wake up and try to do an update on the login screen and perhaps they will fix it but until then it will stay messed up like that and have to use the tab key and space bar to switch from one to the other
 
I'm not sure of your trading setup, but I've had a number of other applications behave similarly. Because I run a 4K laptop screen plus another 32" 4k monitor, I end up having to play around with the DPI settings under Properties on the Executable file.
 
Well I had this setup for years just a basic desktop with no fancy screens and if both screens would behave that way that would be understandable but since tos was running fine for many years and now Schwab comes along and I have to change my screen because they cannot make the screen to be the same size as TOS that's a bit much
I will try one last thing to talk to the Schwab tech department to see if they know anything about this
 
I was able to talk to the tech department today The woman who answered could not do much because she could not remote into my pc because I have windows 7 and tried to tell me that the minimum system requirement is windows 10 and I should change my display setting to a number I never heard off

So I switched to windows 10 and and the guy who answered was able to remote in and saw the problem He did not have a solution but at least now they know what the issue is and perhaps they can do something about it
In the process he had me download TOS again and installed in a different folder so now I have the option of using one or the other or both at the same time so each version has it's own shortcut one for TOS and one for Schwab so I don't have to switch login screens
 
I got a call back from the Schwab tech guy and said that the login screen goes through a web browser screen and that's why it looks different as compared the the TD version which goes through java
So he could not give me a timeline for if and when they will fix it but at least they know exactly what the problem is Hopefully if enough users complain about it they may fix it He said there was some complaint about it but maybe not enough or it's not a big enough problem since there is a workaround it

A web-trading odyssey it is, then—a journey of charts and positions, but alas, the gates to full functionality remain firmly locked.

That was earlier when it was just starting to transition the platform but I believe it should be all functional now at least for the regular accounts
I just placed my first trade on TOS Schwab yesterday
I made another instance of TOS so I can launch either one or both and I don't have to switch back and forth with the login screen
