I know Tom does some great work with Excel spreadsheets to monitor option trades. This requires VBA knowledge.

Has anybody done any work with google sheets for monitoring option positions ?

IMHO just buy excel...don't waste your time using the google version.......if you cannot afford the "investment" for the software ...than probably trading is not for you!

I actually don't write any VBA. The closest thing I do is record a macro which writes the VBA code for me.

I didn't realize you can still Excel by itself for $159. I subscribe to Office365 for $6.99/month. Buying Excel is roughly the same cost as subscribing to Office365 for two years. In two years, you may have to buy upgrades to Excel so it's probably cheapest to subscribe to Office365

Also note, that Excel is running on your desktop so it can interact with thinkorswim etc. Google sheets runs in a web browser and could never have that type of interaction due to web security.
