Should Trade Alerts keep using SMS or just use Slack?

I have been using Twilio for years to send SMS messages. Apparently my account was compromised and Twilio suspended it. I wasn't able to satisfy them that I have taken measures to protect the account so I'm moving my SMS API Gateway to bird.com

This is a multi-day operation as I have to submit a campaign to a registry in the United States due to the 10DLC Compliance stuff I have to do (see https://www.10dlc.org/en/10dlc/long-code-compliance for more details)

I'll be sending SMS messages from a new phone number: +1 2089909007

I'm not sure exactly WHEN I'll be able to send from this number....probably Wed to Fri this week.

THIS WILL IMPACT TRADE ALERT MESSAGES!

Trade alert SMS messages sent from my server will resume after I get approval and the code written to integrate with bird.com's API.

Email and Slack messages ARE NOT AFFECTED.

The A14 trade alerts are on Slack only and not affected
Slingshot trade alerts are Slack only and not affected
The ATM trade alerts are new and I think on Slack only

Boxcar trade alerts will be via email and Slack this week
Schwalbe trade alerts should be via email and Slack this week

Mark's Income Trade Alerts should be via email and Slack this week
Sleep Well Portfolio should be via email and Slack this week

Amy had a thought of only supporting email and Slack. Slack is much faster and doesn't cost anything versus SMS.

What are your thoughts about not sending SMS messages for trade alerts?
 
I need to develop the discipline to check Slack each day. SMS offers the perception that it is more immediate but that's only true because I make the effort to look at it, which I can do with Slack as well. Email is basically useless for time sensitive messages because we all get far too many of them. Bpttom line. I'm ok with just Slack.
 
I like the option to have SMS. Not sure about Slack as I have multiple channels and haven't used it on my phone.
 
I'll probably be able to have SMS setup at the end of the week or next week. I need more people to vote in the poll.. :)
 
Tom, your SMS provider takes over 10+ minutes to deliver a message (I am on Tmobile). I got messages after the close on one of your services (and you had sent them 15 mins before the close). They do not work consistently.

Gmail is know to be instantaneous when you send/receive from a Gmail account. How about that as a free option?

Slack crashed my system routinely. Discord is no problem.
 
Here is another question then. What if SMS had an extra fee like $3/month to enable? Would it still be something you wanted?
 
Email will always go out if sent from my server. Amy and Tomas Byron only use Slack so that wouldn't generate an email unless you have your Slack notifications setup for that.

SMS is slow and expensive versus Slack is instantaneous and free and they have a great API for me to control access to private channels. I'm leaning towards retiring SMS for trade alerts.

BTW: The emails are sent via [email protected] which has DKIM and SPF records so it should be relatively fast, but never as quick as Slack.
