Hi, has anyone been successful in finding and installing any of John Carters indicators, especially TTM Squeeze.

They seem free on most platforms, but of course not IB! they want to charge $50 per month. for each indicator.

Thank you

i don't use interactive brokers so i can't answer your question but i can offer a poor man's alternative. the ttm squeeze
is just an indicator of when the bollinger bands are inside the keltner channel. you can reproduce this on charting sites
like stockcharts.com or barchart.com by just plotting those indicators. you won't get the dots but you can still
tell when they would appear. then you look at the momentum (or macd) to help with the possible direction
when the bollinger bands expand. one word of caution, though, you get different results from different charting
sites. i've found stockcharts tends to agree more with thinkorswim and my own implementations than barchart.com.
other carter indicators are not as easy to recreate.

Simon, do you have to stay with IB? I was with them for 8 yrs and I found that the platform (& IB too) is so rigid that simple things are made complicated. For instance setting up a credit spread will create a negative sign for the credit you will receive. If you forget this and you have a large bid/spread that contains both negative and positive numbers in eg SPX, you could get the worst fills ever. I made the mistake a few times and just could not stand them anymore and moved everything to ToS. Also be careful with the 'mid' prices, they are almost always wrong because IB changes the bid/ask constantly to reflect the the latest bids and asks trades instead of the market maker bid/ask. I was having to open TOS platform to get the correct mark price and then put that in my IB trade order, not worth it. You can still use IB for an account for only stocks and probably covered calls, nothing complicated. I love their commissions and account security (logging in with a 2-prong authentication) but not a good platform for multi-leg options trading.

Thanks for the reply's chaps.

I would jump to TOS tomorrow, but its not available in the UK. IB is the most confusing platform that I have ever come across, I use it the same way as Tom, setting every order up as a buy, that way I don't get confused. I had an account with TradeStation, many moons ago, I might revisit and see how it compares.

Any Trade Station comments greatly received.

Just found out that TS & IB international have some sort of affiliation going on, I will do some more research this week, as TS charts are excellent.
