Margin computation on OptionsExplorer ONE

Hi all,

I am pretty new to A14 trade and to One. I do not understand how One computes margin, be it original, current or max margin.

To my understanding (and what is being displayed also by IBKR), BWB margin is just equal to the difference between the A14 credit spread and the A14 debit spread. So for the standard BWB 40/60 when opening A14 trade, margin should be equal to 2000 USD per lot, so 4000 USD for the minimal 2 lots trade. And this is fixed and does not change depending upon market variations.
However what is shown by One is quite different and moves over time.
Any one has a clue to clear my confusion?

In advance, many thanks and happy trading,

Alexis

Not sure how IB is calculating the margin but if you use the IB data source than I imagine the margin would be the same as IB
If you had access to TOS you could use that to compare I have not seen any changes in margin when using TOS

Well the point is that One margin and IB margin differ. Reading again ONE help pages, I actually found that what they mean by margin could also be capital allocation - so it seems a rather vague concept like risk at large.

I guess it's possible I never looked at the margin on ONE since I was using TOS If it's capital allocation is that from IB or can you set a different capital allocation on ONE ? Not sure why it would be different if they use the same allocation Unless the calculation is different
Not sure if it's worth it to use the ONE margin as you are trading with IB so that's the one that matters

It has been a while since I used ONE, but I believe that there is a setting that lets you specify what type of margin, i.e. original, maximum, current etc.

That could be the issue So you have to check on IB to make sure the margin setting is the same If you have original setting on IB and current margin on ONE that you will see a difference and also variable over time
