SCHW ToS & RTD

TL;DR Yay! Great forward progress. It's getting there! RTD is mostly working with ToS on SCHW accounts. Mostly good news for spreadsheet junkies like me.

This is *mostly* good news. I have existing accounts with SCHW as well as TDA accounts which will be moved probably in Mar 2024 (no date yet, but best guess for the last batch to move).

I got an email for my SCHW accounts that ThinkOrSwim (ToS) is now available. I wanted to make sure that functionality wouldn't impact my current TDA/ToS trading platform which I use actively. It doesn't. Good news.

With ToS/TDA running on a remote desktop, I logged into my ToS/SCHW on my local laptop. It works and I can trade those accounts using ToS. More good news!

So I pulled up my spreadsheets which are using RTD (Microsoft functionality for Real Time Data streams) for several of my trading tools. Mostly good. My only issue so far is that Gamma is not being calculated or sent. For me and my trading style, that's an important one. So, it's the "Not All Good News" part.

I passed this on to Support, and I hope it gets to the Dev team.
 
Ahhhh, nevermind.

Here's a key learning for me that can hopefully help someone later on. Even though I'm using the same ToS desktop application from my TDA account, when I logged into SCHW, the Application Settings got reset to defaults. That means my Gamma calc's were running at 2 significant digits..... <sigh> I reset that to 5, and Gamma looks good again.

Just out of curiosity you said you have accounts with both so why do you have to move them ?
 
Those TDA accounts will be moved to SCHW as part of the transition. I would not move a thinig, but SCHW will be completing the transfers of all TDA accounts. I'm in the last batch because I use the TDA API and one of my accounts is PM. I assume my TDA accounts will land as new SCHW accounts when this happens, and I wanted to check out the ToS implementation that they've done thus far.

It seems to have been done well, and except for the Calendar margin (!!!!), I'm expecting good things.

The API is still in development, but I expect it will look like the TDA API, eventually....
 
Yes I remember they said something about moving them in batches so they moved the simple accounts first I guess I was one of them
