SteadyOptions Performance Question

Kim,

i did cancel and move on Kim. I replied to a new member post. I didn’t reopen this thread.

Discussing a trade beforehand is one thing. Putting it on and having 100 subscribers follow, which drives prices so your trade is profitable, is something else. Try publishing the trade and executing your trade a few minutes after you publish it and see how it changes the results.

Yes, but you were the one who opened this topic originally.

Well, that's your opinion. Our straddles performance tells a different story. 9 years of proven live track record where straddles are significant percentage of all trades. And yes, this is still a non directional strategy.
Is this an audited track record?

I suppose its not fair to ask if its audited. Nobody else does that so why should you.. but wonder if the track record on your website is from real trades in your account or just calls made?

It was me who deleted that post. Sorry for confusion. It was just general thought. Not very important. I really didn't want to enter into discussion.

As I'm on... I just finished listening to last Relegh Durham meeting with Mr Euan Sinclair. I like it and recommend. Although I do not share his quant approach to options trading anymore I can agree with many of his thoughts. For example an idea of various misconceptions hold by retail, and not only retail, trades being a drag in their development hit the chord in me.

To expand on that: lately I was thinking about probabilities. There is that concept: 10 delta equals about 10% prob that everybody is using. It is wrong. Well, it is wrong on the face value or, at least, can lead to bad trading decissions. Sinclair mentioned that successful professional traders sometimes do use those misconceptions in their teaching but in practice they don't act on them, aka they do right things but explain their actions improperly. I noticed that as well although I'm pretty sure this is not intentional. Sometimes it is hard to put into words concepts of trading that grew out of experience. Nevertheless those misconceptions are hanging around and are still, to my knowledge, propagated by various trading mentors/teachers/gurus in quite mechanical manner.

I know this is off topic :) I just finished first part of recording and my thoughts may be somewhat skewed. Anyway, I recommend Mr Sinclair's interview for at least medium level traders. Right or wrong, there is a trading approach worth your ear time.
Thanks to Don Brady for the meeting and Tom for recording.

Yes, the track record is based on real trades in our accounts, and all trades come with screenshots of our broker fills. Here is how it works:
  • Every week we post a list of trading candidates for the next week.
  • We post a separate topic for each suitable candidate, with analysis of the suggested prices, average move, previous cycle etc.
  • The analysis allows members to do their homework and to see if they like the potential trade.
  • If members agree with the analysis, they can go ahead and make the trade.
  • We will try to get the trade at the best possible price.
  • When we are filled, we post it on the forum. The trade will also include screenshots of our broker fills.
As far as I know, nobody in the industry does what we do.

As a side note, we have two traders posting the trades for SteadyOptions service (me and another trader), and even for his trades, I usually have no problem to get filled at the same or similar price after the trade was posted. All you need is a bit of patience.

FWIW many of their trade ideas are posted before the official alert goes out, meaning, I have been able to front-run many of the official alerts.

Again, if you look at them for the educational aspects (learnings earnings related strategies) it was worth the cost for me but I am the type of person who likes to read options books, papers, run my own tests, etc. I personally think they should just drop the alert service all together as that seems to give everyone the most trouble but I suspect that is also what brings in the new/dumb money so I cannot fault them for keeping that as part of the offering from a business perspective.

@BradF you are absolutely right, and we have a very clear disclaimer:

"SteadyOptions is a trading ideas generator rather than an alert service. If you are using it as a pure alert service, you are not taking advantage of all the wealth of knowledge and learning we offer. If you expect a pure alert service where trading alerts are just delivered to you without any effort and time commitment, this service is not for you."

I tried to subscribe to Steady Options. I used a business Paypal (since they want your credit card in advance, to charge you in case you forget to cancel) and a different e-mail to join. After more than 10 e-mails in which the owner got more and more frustrated since his system could not handle that combination (but never identified in the subscription steps) Kim K cancelled my subscription after one day. This was a first ever for me.
His abrasive attitude will never bring me back.

Dear @Adrian 2

Unlike other services that are willing to accept unlimited number of subscribers, we always limit our membership (in fact, we are closed about half of the time). So yes, it might be a first for you, but we rejected hundreds of potential members, based on different criteria. SteadyOptions is not for everyone, and when we see that it's not going to be a good fit, we cancel the subscription.

To comment on your specific claim, when a member creates a forum account and then uses a different name and email in the PayPal subscription, we need to be notified in order to link the two accounts. Contrary to your claim, this is specified very clearly during all steps of the registration process - see screenshots below.
