I was wondering if anyone has traded the ZB futures or know how the fill prices work when rolling a futures contract forward
I rolled a ZB futures contract forward on Friday on the new Tastytrade website and for some reason after I made the trade the new position did not show up in the position detail tab so I sent them an email and they did not really have an answer for it They said to adjust the time filter settings I did not adjust any time setting so I did not se why I would have to adjust it now It was showing 0 for the position that was closed but nothing for the new position and all the trades were done the same day so why would I need to adjust the time filter
So than later on the afternoon the same day I checked it again and the fill prices were there so I figured maybe they had some problem and they fixed it
So than Saturday I get my statement and I see that the fill prices on the futures were not the same as on the website so I sent them another email and someone called me in the morning and was trying to tell me that the ZB bond futures do not use the fill prices on the website but it's some kind of settlement price offset than for some reason the guy got confused and wanted to do some calculation so he called me back and pretty much said the same thing
Is that true ? Did anyone know if that's the way bond prices work ? He said that if I had closed it first and than open the new one the prices would match but because I rolled it it's considered a spread so they can use whatever price they feel like as long as the spread amount is the same
I never heard of that but it's the first time I rolled a bond futures on Tastytrade so not sure if that is true or not
What is the point of having a confirmation statement if the fill price on the statement does not match the one on the website It's confusing enough to deal with fractions and decimals now I have to calculate different offset too ?
